Season archive

Before Journeys Across Europe, we lit up dozens of light parks and exhibitions all over Europe. Here we look back at past seasons — at the themes, the light sculptures and the evenings enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of visitors.

The journey began with a Christmas courtyard in Dobrovíz. From it grew the project Světla vyprávějí… (Lights Tell Stories…), which came together under the European brand Story of Lights from the 2025 season. Each park kept its own theme and atmosphere.

How the archive grew

From a Christmas courtyard to a European route. For each season we list the theme, the cities and the centrepieces visitors walked among.

  1. until 2020 — the Christmas courtyard in Dobrovíz

Before the parks there was a workshop — and a Christmas courtyard in Dobrovíz, where festive lighting first proved it could be a destination in its own right, not just a backdrop to a town square.

  2. 2021 — Light for the public

From decorating cities and shopping centres we move to our first themed light exhibitions for visitors. Light stops being decoration and becomes an experience worth buying a ticket for.

  3. 2022 — The first light park — Žluté lázně

At Žluté lázně in Prague we open our first stand-alone light park under the name Světla vyprávějí… (Lights Tell Stories…). Festive lighting becomes a full evening walk with a story: welded sculptures, tunnels of light and photo spots. To this day, the Prague exhibition remains the most visited of the whole family of parks.

  4. 2023 — A second year in Prague, a first in Pardubice

Prague adds over 170 light objects and decorations and more than 400,000 LEDs — only the Prague panorama remains from the previous year. On the ramparts of Pardubice Chateau we open the first season there, walked by tens of thousands of people in a single winter; visitors travel in from Brno, Ostrava and even Poland.

  5. 2024 — Space, fantasy and fifteen parks

Prague tells the story of Zvonek's journey through space — over a hundred light sculptures and 400,000 lights, planets, rockets and astronauts; we prepared the exhibition together with astronomers from the Žebrák Observatory. Pardubice goes fantasy: a hundred sculptures and 150,000 lights, a polar express, horses of light as the symbol of the city, and an aeroplane paying tribute to Jan Kašpar. In total, fifteen light parks lit up across Europe in 2024, seven of them in Czechia.

  6. 2025 — One brand: Story of Lights

The project Světla vyprávějí… unites under the European brand Story of Lights. Season 25/26 is the biggest yet: fourteen light parks in five countries. Prague lit up Luminous Europe, Brno the first Castle of Lights at Špilberk, and Ostrava a universe of light among the furnaces of Dolní Vítkovice.

  7. 2026/27 — Journeys Across Europe

Twelve light parks in five countries under one brand and one story. Germany joins the route. One ticket, a golden compass, the whole of Europe.

season 25/26 · Prague, Žluté lázně

Luminous Europe — last year's park in Prague

Last season turned Žluté lázně on the bank of the Vltava into a journey across Europe. Greek myths as the cradle of civilisation, gates of light with national flags, animated flowers with scents and music, a giant ship of light — dozens of welded sculptures and thousands of LED lights told the story of a continent. It was “Luminous Europe” that gave this year's Journeys Across Europe campaign its name.

The park was open from 31 October 2025 until the end of January 2026, every day from 4 pm to 9 pm, with last entry at 8:30 pm. The lights stayed dark on Christmas Eve.

The year the exhibitions became Europe

In season 2025/26, fourteen light parks shone under the Story of Lights brand in five countries — for the first time under one name, yet each park kept a theme of its own.

Dates and themes are listed as per the programme of the season in question. Season 26/27 has its own route — you will find the overview in the list of parks.
